This is his sister, she would cook us food all day on the mud stove. Man, was she ever a good cook!

This is a jungle hostel that we stayed at about 20 minutes outside of San Ignacio. Throughout this trip we have been so lucky about finding amazing places to stay at along the way and this one definitely took the cake! Some friends from Caye Caulker found us in town and told us to come with them to this place. The owner picked us up in his jeep and we 4 x 4 through the jungle for about 20 minutes then hiked for another 20 minutes and ended up in paradise! A family owns all this land and built everything on it themselves. They built this hostel with pretty much just a chain saw and tying the trees to their backs. They had a mud stove where the sister Mila cooked us up such good meals from scratch. We would hear her cooking breakfast before the sun even came up. We had royal rat, lots of burritos, fried jacks, fresh juices for only 3.50 a meal. We slept right next to a waterfall, and they toured us around the jungle. They showed us all the different plants and explained their medicinal purposes. We went on a waterfall tour where we could climb straight up the waterfall because it was limestone and you could jump back in, waterfalls in the middle of the jungle...life is good! On our last day one of the brothers took us horseback riding through the jungle, it was my first time and I had a blast!
